My sweet Hailey turned the big 8 on August 30th. Because school started so late this year, she was still on summer vacation…. lucky girl! For breakfast in bed, Hailey requested sausage and egg muffins. We brought Ashlyn's food up, too, so that Hailey would have some company while she ate.
Hailey was able to have a really special experience on this special birthday. That morning we were able to go to the Brigham City Temple Open House together as a family.
Here's Hailey and Baylen on the shuttle on the way over to the temple.
Without even planning it, we ended up with tickets at the exact same time as Tavi and her kids.
We were lucky to have Grandma Whipple come up for the tour with us, too. Here's our future missionary!
Such a pretty temple.
A special tradition we have in our family is that Baylen and I take our kids on their own little mini vacation when they turn eight. It was so fun to be able to spend one on one time with Hailey.
We started out by getting lunch at Sonic and then headed down to Gateway to Build a Bear. Hailey picked out a super soft white bear that she named Rosey.
Here she is giving her bear a bath.
Filling out the birth certificate...
She chose a super cute outfit and some fun accessories to go with her bear. It was a fun afternoon.
We actually stayed at the same hotel that we stayed at in Draper for Tanner and Mickell's little vacation. But, this time I was able to find a deal where we got the hotel stay and 4 tickets to Cowabunga Bay for less then the room normally costs. So we were able to try out this waterpark. I didn't want to take the camera in, so we snapped a picture before.
Hailey only wanted to stay at the waterpark for an hour (glad I didn't pay for it :) We had fun, but it was kind of a chilly day and the slides really hurt our backs when we went down them. I think she was also super excited to swim in the hotel pool.
We had lots of fun swimming in the hotel pool. We went down to it three different times during our stay and we had the whole thing to ourselves most of the time. It was fun playing little games together and just being silly.
That night we went to dinner at Red Robin. Since it was Hailey's birthday, the waiter totally spoiled her and brought her out a HUGE slice of ice cream cake. She was sweet to share it and in was yummy.
At the hotel room Hailey had fun watching Disney Channel. We also painted her nails and played a card game.
The next morning we all accidentally slept in and almost missed breakfast. Then we went to the dollar theater to see Madagascar 3 and went to Arby's for lunch. It was such a fun little trip. Baylen mentioned that we really should do it with our kids more than once. I totally agree. Happy Birthday Hailey!!!
