Bear Lake
My friend Michelle invited the kids and I to go up to her cabin in Bear Lake with her and her kids (the guys had to work). At first I was really nervous about attempting a vacation alone with the four kids. However, we had such a good time! We went up Monday morning. We stopped at Wingers in Logan for lunch. Thank goodness the restaurant was already really noisy because having six kids under seven years old, together at one table, was a little chaotic. We got up to Bear Lake in the early afternoon. We quickly got unpacked and then headed down to the beach. We spent all afternoon Monday and then all day Tuesday down at the beach.
The kids had a great time. They had so much fun being there with their friends. Michelle and I played with the kids a lot and spent lots of time visiting and relaxing on the beach.
These silly little dollar store blow-ups were a huge hit. The kids played on them (and fought over them) for hours.
Tanner, Mickell, and Preston did a lot of imagining. They found lots of "secret" things, including a trap door, under the water. They also did some fishing.
We had lots of fun playing games and watching movies at night.
We had originally planned to go home Tuesday evening. But, we were having so much fun that we decided to stay until Wednesday morning. Besides a close to drowning scare with Riley and a bunch of horse flies, we had an awesome trip. The weather was beautiful and the company was great!
Dinosaur Museum
During August, everything at Thanksgiving Point is only two dollars on Tuesdays. This past Tuesday we went down to the Dinosaur Museum with Tavi and her girls. We had a great time and learned some really fascinating things about dinosaurs.
Hailey's favorite part was digging in the "sandbox". She grabbed a little handful of sand and announced that this pile was hers (can you tell she's a middle child?)
After the museum, we went to McDonalds (along with probably 90 percent of the population of Lehi- it was CROWDED!). We always have so much fun hanging out with the Binghams. The kids idolize their cousins Morgan and Kayla!
Lagoon
We spent our Christmas money on Lagoon Season Passes. We have been having so much fun with them. We got them back in April (which is an AWESOME time to go!). We have been going at least once a week. We usually go in the evening when it is cooler and the lines aren't as long. The kids are amazingly brave! They go on every ride that they can.
At the beginning of the season, Tanner was just under 50 inches so he wasn't able to go on a few of the bigger rides (the Rocket and Jet Star). Baylen told Tanner that if he did a good job of drinking his milk, he was sure to grow. A few weeks ago, we went to Lagoon with our neighbors for Family Night. Tanner borrowed Braden's "tall" shoes and folded a pair of socks up under his feet so that he could go on the rocket. Last week when we went, Tanner wanted to go on the rocket again. He got to the front of the line, the guy measured him, and HE IS OFFICIALLY 50 INCHES NOW!!! Tanner's been faithful about drinking his milk! He'd be a good person to do a commercial for milk because he really does believe that "milk does a body good."
Kell is really a fun person to take because she still LOVES the kids rides but also enjoys going on all the rides that I consider scary. She's happy going on everything!
Our little Hailey is incredibly brave for a three year old. She loves the Dinosaur Drop. On Monday night, she went on the Tidal Wave for the first time. She was very disappointed that she is a few inches too short to go on the Bat.
Ashlyn LOVES Lagoon. When we get out of the car and she realizes where we are, she just lights up. Until just recently, she has been perfectly content to just sit in her stroller and people watch. Now, she is very into riding the rides. Every time she sees one, she reaches towards it and says, "please." There aren't many rides that a one year old can ride. She loves the carousel and the train. She's okay on the Skyscrapper. But honestly, it scares me to death to take her on it. I hold her with white knuckles the whole time we are on it. Just this past week, she went on the little boats for the first. I wish I had my camera that day. I have never seen her soooo happy!
Baylen and I went to Lagoon, just the two of us, a couple of weeks ago for our anniversary. We had a blast. I think it's the perfect place to go to remind each other that we are still fun people!
I don't take my camera with us very often. It's so much easier not having to worry about it. These pics were taken back in April.
The kids have been really enjoying swimming lessons this year. They went for two sessions and would have done five more if I could afford it. I was very worried about how Hailey would do, but she loved it. Hailey was able to take her lessons at the same time as her friend Kai.
They all made a lot of progress. It's nice to see them learning so much since good swimming instruction is not cheap.
